A7FL Opens The 2023 Season With 10 Great Matchups Across The Country

A7FL 2023 BIC vs Renegades Football

Entering the 9th season of the league, many restructured teams and new teams gave fans much to contemplate.

The Trenton BIC would open our ten-game opening day slate with the 2022 offensive player of the year, Ashanhe Worthy, scoring a touchdown on the opening play against the East Orange Renegades.

This and another three-on-one return would be the saving grace for the BIC as the Renegades and their formidable defense kept the pressure on the defending champions as they would squeak out a 27-20 victory.

Are The Paterson U back?

Following being one yard and two points away from their third straight A7FL Championship in 2022, The Paterson U took to the field looking to make a statement at the expense of the Rahway Shnow Tribe.

Losing starting Quarterback, multi-time A7 MVP and Champion, Quatrelle Huffin and 2022 A7FL Defensive Player of The Year, Issac Negron, the U reloaded with the edition of Baltimore based veterans Carlos Croslin at Quarterback and Angelo Lewis Jr, who would serve as a dynamic edition to their already stout running game.

After only scoring 12 points on the Shnow Tribe in the first half, the U offense and defense awoke to stifle Negron, who signed with the Tribe days before the start of the season and veteran Quarterback Jonathan Keelz, on the road to a 42-12 victory.

Are the Cincinnati Chaos for real?

With players making it known in the offseason that they were looking to bring the chaos, the newest Cincinatti franchise made an emphatic debut in the league this Sunday against the fellow debuting Oletangy Volcanoes.

Having Quarterback Kenyon Thomas Sr. put on a rushing clinic, the Chaos defense and return team buoyed the new team to a 50-6 win over the Volcanoe.

Will the 1-0 Covington Heist be able contain Thomas Sr. and the Chaos’ speed in week two2 or will Cin City start their inaugural season 2-0?

Could the Silk City Animals cause commotion in the North East Division?

Quatrelle Huffin’s first appearance in a Silk City Animals uniform was a successful one, as the veteran QB would lead his team to a 52-6 win over the debuting Boston Omegas.

Despite solid play from Quarterback Cory Hammond and excellent play from the man known as Goose, Boston’s debut was less than idyllic to end our east coast slate.

The Animals will match up with the East Orange Renegades in week two, which will be a much better indicator of where the Animals stand in the North East division. With the way the Renegades held their own against the Trenton BIC, this will be a matchup that will garner a lot of attention.

Who are the true powerhouses in Nevada?

{Insomniacs or Force}

The Las Vegas Insomniacs and Vegas Force have two things in common after the opening weekend: they are both ranked in the top ten and are both 1-0.

The Insomniacs had what some are calling the game of the week, coming back from an early 14-0 deficit to win 42-39 against Las Vegas Sickwidit as newly arrived stars Trey Robinson, Scooter Hamilton, Anthony “RTC” Wilkerson, and Tone Smith showcased their skills against a SickWidit Team featuring a collection of great Wide Receivers including Tiere Edwards, who would bring a touchdown to the house and solid QB play from Jeremy Geary.

In a battle between the defending A7FL Nevada champion Vegas Force and Nevada Fall Brawl champion Pit Bosses, the Mac Smith helmed club would tame the coach Anthony Bartley led team 52-12.

Featuring great play from newcomer Gary Weaver, veteran QB “Rock” Briscoe, and Curtis Jones ability as a receiver and returner, the Force set the pace for a defending division champion and kept new PitBosses QB Kwame Southall on his back foot all game.

The PitBosses now deal with the Insomniacs as the Force battle the Sikwidit this Sunday at Bonanza High School.

All these questions and more will be answered throughout the A7FL season, which can be seen every Sunday on YouTube, A7FL.TV, and DAZN.
