LIVE UPDATES

Game 1 – 1:00 PM ET

Trenton BIC vs. Silk City Animals

Our first Game of the Week featured two of the top teams in the North East Division fighting for all-important playoff seeding as the reigning champion Trenton BIC (4-1) took on the rapidly up-and-coming Silk City Animals (4-1).

The Animals would start with the ball and they drove right down the field and scored on a quick screen to John “Joker” Kessler with 10:02 left in the first to take a 7-0 lead. BIC’s offense would follow suit and score in less than two minutes on a Sterry Codrington pass to Qaiyim “Q Bell” Bell for 12-yards and the two-point conversion would give them an 8-7 lead. Animals quarterback Quatrell “Huff” Huffin would do something on the next drive he rarely has done this year: throw an interception. BIC would get the ball on the Animals’ 45-yard line and capitalize on the turnover with another touchdown pass to Q Bell, this one of the 35-yard variety. The Animals would get the ball back down 16-7 with 4:23 left in the first but BIC’s defense would hold firm and force a throw-off. The quarter would end with BIC on their own 47-yard line with a 16-7 lead.

The BIC would score on a 22-yard scramble from Codrington, and Huff took exception as things would get a little heated on the field. With the score at 22-7 with 10:54 left in the quarter, the Animals had to make some plays soon before the momentum completely flipped to BIC. The Animals were backed up to their own 2-yard line when Huff found Mitchell “Money Making Mitch” Jenkins for 72 yards and all of a sudden, the Animals were in primetime field position. They would punch it in from the one-yard line on a Marquese “Oye” Marrero run, bringing the score to 22-13. BIC’s offense would get a massive play on their following drive from Ashante “Hollywood” Worthy on a 52-yard reception and they would capitalize by scoring on a 9-yard Codrington pass to Abby “Baby Sav” Mansaray to extend their lead to 28-13 with 1:55 left in the first half. After a failed fourth down conversion, the BIC would get the ball on their own 25-yard line with 37 seconds left. But you can’t leave too much time for the reigning champs, as they would score on a 56-yard pass to Q Bell for his third touchdown of the half. The BIC would take their 36-13 lead into the half.

The BIC would start with the ball in the second half and their offense started right where it left off in the first half, scoring on a 70-yard run from Donnell “Ice Cream Truck” Hubbert just 45 seconds into the half. The Animals’ offense needed to get something going, as Huff tried to take it upon himself to get much needed yards, but he would throw an interception to give BIC the ball back on their own 35-yard line. The BIC offense kept pouring it on as Codrington would do his best Houdini impression on a 41-yard touchdown pass to the Ice Cream Truck, extending their lead to 50-13 with 7:59 left in the third. The Animals’ offense started to show signs of life on an outstanding one-handed catch by Young Bull for 41 yards, but the BIC pass rush proved too much again as the Animals would fail to convert on fourth down. The BIC would take the ball with 1:51 left in the quarter, but it wouldn’t take long for them to score again on a 60-yard bomb from Codrington to Russ “Trey” Cohen, creating a 43-point deficit. To make matters worse for the Animals, they would fumble on the following throw-off to get the ball right back. The BIC continued the onslaught, as they would score on a 30-yard pass to Umar “Butta Sav” Lewis to score again, making it 64-13. The score would remain 64-13 at the end of the third, enacting the mercy rule and ending the game.

The BIC made an absolute statement today against one of the top teams in the division en route to a 51-point blowout and a 5-1 record, while the Animals need to regroup and reevaluate while their record drops to 4-2.

Game 2 – 4:00 PM ET

DC Buzz vs Rahway Shnow Tribe

Our second Week 6 Game of the Week featured two teams fighting for the last playoff spot in the North East Division as the Rahway Shnow Tribe (1-4) took on the DC Buzz (0-5).

The Shnow Tribe started with the ball, but not after a massive hit by Stephen “Momo” Morales on the opening throw-off. Despite the statement made by the Buzz on special teams, the Shnow Tribe showed off their rushing attack to drive down to the Buzz’s 28-yard line where quarterback Jonathan “Keelz” Keel found Marcel “El Chapo” Chapman in the endzone for the game’s first score. Keon “Lion” Charles would set up the Buzz offense on the Shnow Tribe’s 48-yard line after a nice 3-on-1 return, and they would capitalize on their field position by scoring on an 18-yard pass from quarterback Mark Diggs to Mike Gonmakeit to take an 8-6 lead. The Shnow Tribe would respond quickly, scoring on a 1-yard run from Keelz on a drive that only took two minutes and 30 seconds and taking the lead 14-8. The following drive, Diggs would throw an interception to Rawn “Rondo” Brown for a 30-yard pick six, flipping the momentum of the game in a flash and giving the Shnow Tribe a 20-8 lead. That score would hold at the end of the first with the Buzz offense on their own 37-yard line facing a 4th-and-2.

The Buzz would convert the fourth down and continue driving and Marcell Nelson would finish the drive with an emphatic 38-yard run, breaking tackles on his way to cutting the deficit to four, 20-16. It wouldn’t take long for the Shnow Tribe to respond as they would score on a 65-yard run by Marquis “Suge” Muschett with 12:09 left in the second and extend their lead back to 11. The Buzz would drive down the field to the Shnow Tribe’s 19-yard line but would allow a sack and 4th-and-4 to give the ball back to the Shnow Tribe on their own 21-yard line with 5:55 left in the half. The Shnow Tribe weren’t done scoring in the first half as they would score on an 18-yard pass to Marcell Chapman to make the score 33-16 with 42 seconds left in the half. They would take that 17-point lead into halftime.

2nd Half

The Buzz would start the second half with the ball and they held it for just over five minutes until Mark Diggs threw an interception to Rafael Florentino to set up the Shnow Tribe offense on their own 8-yard line. The Shnow Tribe would commit their first turnover of the game on this drive by way of a fumble by Keelz to give the Buzz a chance to comeback in this game on their own 35-yard line. The Buzz would drive it to the Shnow Tribe 20-yard line as the third quarter expired with the Shnow Tribe still in the lead, 33-16.

The Buzz drive would end on a 4th-and-10 interception by Tyshawn “Cheetah” Robinson, and the Shnow Tribe drive would start on their own 25-yard line. The Buzz defense would force a three-and-out to get the ball back with 10:23 left in the game. Unfortunately for the Buzz, the turnover plague continued with another interception thrown by Lenny Manziel. The Buzz would end up getting their third straight stop on defense, but they were still down 17 with 6:42 left in the game. The deficit got smaller real fast though, as Diggs would find Mikey Gonmakeit for a 52-yard touchdown, making the score 32-22. The Shnow Tribe would take their time on their ensuing drive, trying to make sure the Buzz would not get another scoring opportunity. Unfortunately for the Buzz, they couldn’t keep Keelz out of the endzone on a 6-yard run as the Shnow Tribe would extend their lead to 40-22. The Buzz would not go out quietly though, as Momo would burst for a 74-yard rushing touchdown to bring the Buzz back within ten. The game would end without any more scoring, and the championship chase stayed alive for the Rahway Shnow Tribe. Final: Rahway Shnow Tribe 40 DC Buzz 30

Game 3 – 7:00 PM

Paterson U vs. Boston Omegas

In our final Week 6 Game of the Week, we saw the Paterson U (4-1) look to improve their spot in the playoff standings against the Boston Omegas (0-5), who are looking for their first win in franchise history.

Paterson U would receive the opening throw-off, but Markeith “Dot Boss” Williamson would fumble and give the ball to the Omegas on the U’s 41-yard line. On the first play of the drive, quarterback Corey Hammond dropped a dime to Xavier “Goose” Vinnie for a 59-yard touchdown, making it 6-0 Omegas in a flash. The U would start their drive on their own 25-yard line and would get on the board quickly by way of a passing touchdown from quarterback Carlos “Pablo” Croslin to Ernest “Eazy” Wingate for a 31-yard score to take an 8-6 lead. The Omegas offense would stall and throw it back to the U where they would take over on the Omegas’ 43-yard line. The U’s air attack was getting it done early in this one, as Pablo would toss another touchdown, this one 39 yards to Jamel “Ski” Johnson. The Omegas got the ball back down 16-6 with 6:30 left in the first, but they would give the ball right back to the U after facing a 4th-and-20. The U’s offense would continue to look like a well-oiled machine as Shurod “Wreck” Servance would rumble in for a 10-yard touchdown, extending the U lead to 22-6 at the end of the first quarter.

The Omegas offense would take the field on their own 26-yard line, but they would sputter again giving the ball right back to the formidable U offense. A 59-yard reception by Troi “Mr. Inkredible” Smith would set up a 1-yard touchdown for Rashod Knight, inflating the lead to 28-6. The Omegas offense would set up shop on their own 15-yard line, but that shop quickly closed as they would throw back to the U on the Omegas’ 47-yard line with 10:54 left in the first half. The first play of the drive, Pablo finds Mr. Inkredible for a 47-yard touchdown for his second receiving touchdown of the first half to extend the U lead even further to 36-6. The Omegas would start their next drive on their own 47-yard line, but they would fail to convert a 4th-and-11 to give the ball back to the U on the Omegas’ 49-yard line. Pablo would continue his dominant showing as he would drop a pass in a bucket to Eazy for a 42-yard touchdown, increasing the U’s lead to 36. The Omegas would get into U territory on their ensuing drive, but they would fail to convert on 4th-and-9 and the U would get the ball on their own 49-yard line. A Carlos Croslin rush would bring the U to the Omegas’ 5-yard line where Saddiq Pitts would take a sweep into the endzone for a 50-6 lead. The Omegas offense would start their final drive of the half at their own 20-yard line with 1:54 on the clock, but the Omegas couldn’t put up any points and would go into halftime down 50-6.

The Omegas would receive the opening throw-off of the second half, but great coverage by the U would pin the Omegas back at their own 7-yard line. Once again failing to convert a fourth down, the U would get the ball in primetime field position on the Omegas’ 13-yard line. The next play would result in an Angelo “Snages Sosa” Lewis rushing touchdown followed by a Stone Cold Stunner celebration and a 58-6 lead with 10:59 left in the third quarter. Kenyatta “Yatta” Johnson would give the Omegas some juice with a 68-yard bubble screen taken to the house to make the score 58-14. Unfortunately for the Omegas, they would allow a touchdown on the following throw-off to Shurod Servance to go back down 50 with no time coming off the clock. A nice return by Jamal King would set up the Omegas on their own 49-yard line, and after getting the ball down to the U’s 28-yard line, but another failed fourth down conversion gave the U another chance to put up points. The Omegas defense would come up with an interception, putting the Omegas offense on the U’s 19-yard line and setting up a 19-yard pass from Hammond to King to make the score 64-22. The U’s next drive would start on their own 25-yard line, but the third quarter would expire and the game would result in a mercy rule.

The Paterson U (5-1) get a massive win to further solidify their playoff seeding as the Omegas (0-6) will look for their franchise’s first win in two weeks. Final: Paterson U 64 Boston Omegas 22

A7FL WEEK 7 FOOTBALL ACTION

Our Games Of The Week return to Asbury Park seven days removed from one of the wildest weather we’ve seen with teams looking to hang their opponents out to dry.

Starting at 1 pm the defending A7FL Champions, the Trenton BIC, step onto the field aiming to keep hold of the second seed in the northeast and earn a first-round bye.

With Sterry Codrington and Ashante Worthy having career years, it will take the performance of one of the BIC’s greatest rivals to impede a chance at back-to-back championships as they battle Quatrell Huffin and the Silk City Animals.

The Animals have had a Cinderella run off the play from Huffin and rookie running back Issaic “Baby Joker” Gomez and look to keep their pumpkin coach moving toward our championship game on July 23rd.

We will see which team will prevail in our first of three games from the Jersey Shore.

At 4pm it is win or go home for the DC Buzz and the Rahway Shnow Tribe, as they battle for the sixth and final spot in the North East.

Can Jonathan Keelz and Issac Negron’s veteran presence help a Shnow Tribe team that has yet to gel find their rhythm and place in the A7FL Playoffs, or will Mark Diggs and dynamic returner Keon Charles Buzz their way into a second straight playoff appearance?

And under the lights at 7pm the Boston Omegas face a most formidable opponent in the Paterson U.

With the two seed within their grasp, the U look to build off their win in Week 5’s Battle Of Paterson and secure the bag and their chance at a first-round bye, as the Omegas look to play spoiler and give Paterson a longer road to try and appear in their fifth straight A7FL Championship.

The action begins on A7FL.tv, Twitch and internationally on DAZN at 1pm et, with live look-ins across the league, up-to-the-minute scores and great action coming all day long.
